Dryer Duct Cleaning

The majority of fires that occur in laundry rooms will be caused by a blocked dryer duct. It is very important as per The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to have this cleaned at regular intervals to minimise any risk of catching fire.

As well as the above potential fire hazard this prevents the dryer from working efficiently meaning longer drying times and costs. Depending on usage we recommend this be cleaned every six to twelve months.

Once completed you will be issued with a clean certificate as proof for your insurance and health and safety.

Kitchen Canopy/Appliance Cleaning

As you cook grease deposits build up within the canopy and extraction causing a potential fire hazard.

We will ensure the canopy, filters and extraction will be cleaned thoroughly to HVCA TR19 standards ensuring you are fully compliant for fire prevention.

Should the worst happen your insurance company may ask for a full report including before and after pictures and cleaning schedule of the canopy and associated extraction. Once the clean is complete you will be issued with all certification and post clean report.

Completing an FSA appliance deep clean regularly will ensure cross contamination is eliminated ensuring the safety of all diners.

Legal Guidance:

The ‘Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005’ states that you must carry out fire safety risk assessments and keep them up to date. This includes an inspection and assessment of the ductwork and performing maintenance as required to ensure that your laundry room is safe. This policy was developed by the Government to help minimise the risk of fires in business settings.

Section 8 of the act states it requires a ‘responsible person’ to carry out fire risk assessments and take appropriate precautions against fire on their premises. This includes regular cleaning of dryer ducts in laundry rooms and cleaning of canopy hoods and extractor fans in commercial kitchens. Failure to comply with these regulations could result in fines, prosecution and even a custodial sentence as you could be held personally liable in the event of a fire.

If an investigation shows that a fire was caused through a lack of preventative maintenance, then you may not be able to claim for losses or damage under your insurance policy. Insurers are also increasingly asking for proof of dryer duct cleaning from their policy holders. Fires caused by poor or no maintenance of the dryer ducts could mean that your insurance policy won't pay out.
